I ran into this and thought I'd share:

"Originally only available on the PA12 and 14, Lowrance Ready is now available on the Sport, Revo 13, Quest 13 and Outback"

I heard that the new model launch is set for Sept 1.

I get that new features add to their costs.  But at this rate they'll be running $3000 before I can afford one.  Heck, as the new ones keep going up in price the used ones go up with them too, so that is just pushing them farther out of my reach.

I really need a secondary stream of income.

You mean these are the "minor" changes.   ;)

The Sport is a major change IMO, but the addition of Lowrance ready to the lineup is more minor.

I saw all this stuff at OR, and was about to frantically start writing it down, but they said they'd send press packets with all the info, so I stopped writing.  Whoops, they aren't making press packets available until Sept.  Grrrr ...

What other changes were made to the sport?

Are there any upgrades to the drive?  Seems like there is a need with all the failures I've seen posted here...

The front hatch is upgraded, no longer the "scooped" hatch.  And as BWE said, the "lines" are new ... the Hobie person told me it was almost like a new boat?  To which I asked them why they just didn't call it a new name.

I imagine to appeal to current Revo and Outback owners. After all, Hobie spent a lot of money marketing those names and it would be a shame to throw it all that away.
I guess it's kind of the same way far manufacturers keep the same model name, but redesign the vehicle every few years.

Sorry, I meant to quote skidplate's question "What other changes were made to the sport?" and not RumLuck post.

Thanks Allen,

Sounds like it'll be even more like a mini-outback. Cool.

dang, I was hoping they would introduce a Mirage Drive with reverse...that was of course backward compatible with all the older Mirage drive kayaks...but seriously, that would provide a great way to get a back-up drive, start using the new reversing one and move your existing drive to back-up status...enough dreaming, back to fishing...
