Its amazing how much worse it is in the yak vs. the power boat. By the the time you realize your mistake...its way too late.SPF 30 is always in the double ziplocked bag with the toilet paper, all year.Hoping its just the sunscreen ya need.

Literally feel your pain... went out off the N. Shore Oahu during the '09 Papio Open, with some support from Boogie D (Boat, tips, some bait... Boogie & crew, can't say enough good about them..) Thought I had everything covered... forgot the sunscreen and wore board shorts... ooowwwccchhhh...

Dude at the store down the street from Rainbow bridge took one look at me and handed me a pair of bottles of Ocean Potion 100% Aloe Vera Gel... said my legs looked like they were Bleeding!!

Lesson learned... cover, cover cover...

BTW, Boogie used to recommend Dri Grip as a great waterproof sunblock....
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

YES. Even on overcast days - it's like 2x worse in a kayak somehow. Also I'll throw in a pitch for those neck gaiters the guys down in the gulf use - I've got the one from Columbia and it's a great way to cover your face.

Don't forget how altitude increases the amount of UV your skin receives.

In early September last season I was fishing central Oregon and didn't bother with sunscreen because I was tan and it was late in the summer.  I didn't factor in all the lakes I was fishing were well above 4,000 ft.  I burned.

Mine were actually bleeding. And yeah, sunscreen is not a solution. Clothes are.
