kayak withdrawals

is it sad when all I can think about is kayak fishing?  even at church, I pray for a speedy recovery and I day dream about a fish on and I forget I am at church.  when I go to my garage, I sit in my kayak with my pfd on thinking about the rough swells at Neah bay?  my goodness it driving me crazy.  I am just curious if it is just me doing this or has it happened to anyone else.  my wife thinks I am just going thru withdrawal...

I have been known on an occasion to put on the PFD, grab a cold one and watch the girlfriend wash her car while kicking back  in my kayak in the garage, it's also a great way to get familar with the GPS stuff on my FF

You are not alone.  My wife can tell when I have not been fishing in a while because I start spending more time in my shed playing with fishing gear and tend to be a bit more irritable. 

Runs in the family I guess.

Yup...my fiancee is ordering me to go fishing this weekend.

It's one thing to know you have a problem, admit it, and take action.  it's completely a different matter when others have to tell you to go fishing because you are an A$$ if you don't go.  I am currently falling into the latter.  I guess there are probably a whole lot more worse things your significant other could complain about!

Welcome to the addiction.  There's only one cure go kayak fishing.  Told my girlfriend last night I was going salmon fishing this weekend she looked at me and said you just caught one on Sunday like one is enough.

Really!!? If you're Asking this crowd if you're going crazy for exhibiting these symptoms all you're going to get is skew!

I'm with you all I can think about is catching salmon out of the yak. Kayak loaded on trailer stuffed with rods and gear, car packed, and ready to run out the door, but.......This horrible weather is ruining all my plans to go fish the salt! Going to be a sad weekend around here if I don't get some fish..

I think what you have there is an international problem with anglers all over the world suffering from it.

I remember as a young boy, probably about 9 or 10 years old. I was spending my school holidays on my granddads farm in South Africa. I went fishing everyday day in the river running through the farm but my granddad did not like it when I fished on Sundays. He eventually agreed that I can fish on Sundays but only after Church service and finishing Sunday school, which lasted about an hour after Church service.

I remember this one particular Sunday. We went to Church and I was sitting in the front row, day-dreaming about fishing as you do.The priest must of noticed that I was not paying attention and that my thoughts was elsewhere. He then stopped everything and looked at me. "Chris!, do you mind sharing with us all what you are thinking of thats so important for you not to pay attention to what I am preaching?" I really thought I was in trouble so replied that I am thinking about God I am just trying to work a few things out. He then asked what the issue was. I then asked him. Well, why cant I go and fish and think of God, rather than sit in Church and think of fishing?

He did not really know what to say, haha. I can't remember exactly what happened after that. I remember one thing tho, my granddad was not very impressed, it was a very long, quiet drive home...
