Really wish we could've made it to NA but got stuck in traffic with the corn Maze folks on Sauvie. That and we stayed on the water a bit longer to get my brother a keeper...

It was awesome catching my first sturgeon and getting a keeper.

Here are few pics, including a double hookup by Spot and Rawkfish.

A huge thanks to Jake and Nate at Next Adventure. Awesome tourney to celebrate what may be the end of sturgeon retention in the Willy for some time. Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful October day. Mix in a bunch of fish in the slot limit, along with a very worthy cause and you have a party.

Thanks to all for the great turnout, and thanks to all our Vets and volunteers. HOW PDX would like to thank everyone for a great year in 2013 and we look forward to continued growth and connections in 2014.

Here's some additional pics from the George Rogers area.

Awesome tourney!!  Thanks to everyone who made it out on the water and everyone who worked to get this thing put together!  I'm loving everyone's pics so far!  Here are some of my better pics of the day.  Spot puttin' the wood to it and another perspective of our double slayride! :headbang: Finally, my derp-fish keeper.  This thing must have had a pretty gnarly accident at some point in its life.  It sure was a fighter though!  It did not come up easy.

Thanks to everyone who made the Sturgeon tourney a big success.  I expected somewhere between 3 to 5 legal fish, but in the end more than half of the competitors had a legal fish.  Sorry for not sticking around at the end but I had to make amends for facilitating the take of so many fish.  Here is my lovely 2nd to last place fish.

Thanks to all involved.  Landing 5 fish made to 700mile round trip worth it.  Too bad I couldn't find a keeper.

Thanks Nate, Next Adventure and everyone who pitched in.  Sorry I had to miss the party.  Really glad to see so many folks catching fish.

Thank you very much Nate and Next!

It was fun afternoon. Glad I avoided all the traffic.  It was quiet and friendly where I was.

I also would like to point out that I beat Nate for the first time ever.  And then again the next day!

Although it looks like he had way more fun...  Is that some sort of kayak angler courtship ritual?

I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

Thank you Nate for putting this together and thanks to Next Adventure for sponsoring the event.  We really got lucky with the weather, and over half the group caught a keeper sturgeon.  That's pretty cool!  I had no luck on the water but did enjoy the day.  LingBanger did another excellent job at the grill, and the raffle was fun too.  Winning something is always a good thing.

It was fun seeing everyone together enjoying the day and the event.  Thanks again to Nate and Next Adventure for putting this together and making it the great event it turned out to be.

Thanks again to Nate, Jake, and the folks at Next Adventure. We had a great time on Saturday - weather was perfect and the dinos were willing! Our first attempt fishing for sturgeon out of the oasis was a success - three fish and two keepers!

From the photo evidence above, did we mis-measure your sturgeon? The group picture makes the thing look so big, only the tail fit in the picture!!

I am reasonably certain that they photoshopped me out of the picture as revenge for photobombing the picture of the 3 winners.

Loving the pictures - good work everyone! We were fishing the hole just down from Meldrum Bar, but my years-long sturgeon curse continues on the kayak and I got skunked. I'm basically the Red Sox (pre-2004) of sturgeon fishing. I fully expected the rockfish and bass trend to continue and have my wife hook up with a nice one but I'm afraid the curse has rubbed off on her too  :embarassed:

Looks like I might have to suck up my pride a little and beg off a day of C&R with one of you un-cursed folks to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
