I see that there's a Marine Chart App for my iPhone. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there who is using it or if there's another app that you prefer?

Also, do you have a waterproof bag/case of choice? I've seen the dry bag types and the Lifeproof - Otterbox offerings. I was curious as to what you use and why. Thanks, in advance, for the responses.

The navionics marine map is the best 10 or so bucks I've spent on the internet. I use a lifeproof case and it seals up really well. I've submerged it a number of times and it held up just fine. I did have the little door on the bottom of the case break off when I dropped it. However, Lifeproof replaced it under warranty. The only other issue I've had is with the little rubber gasket on that same door falling out. I had the otterbox before and the lifeproof is a ton better. It's way more slim and has held up a lot better. I tend to drop my phone a lot and the lifeproof is by far the best case I have ever had.

+1 on the Lifeproof Case. I am very hard on phones. Haven't had a problem since I bought the case.

+ 1 life proof is epic for Watersports and keeping sawdust from work out of nooks and crannies.

I bought the lifeproof case when it first came out. I didn't like how the case muffled the sound. It was ok on the water but dealing with off water sucked. Maybe better now?

I now use what I first used....a ziplock bag.

Got the US Lakes and Marine Navionics App. I thought about including Canada in it. Maybe later. It's pretty sweet! I also got a used Otterbox from my brother-in-law that isn't completely waterproof, but it will protect my phone until I can afford a Lifeproof case. Thanks for all of your feedback, everyone.

Just arrived today my new Samsung Galaxy S4. Needing a case I was dead set on a Lifeproof case until I researched, read reviews, and found Seidio Obex. I've had an Otterbox with my Blackberry, but I didnt like the bulk.

Even when I didnt have a waterproof case I always brought my phone, keys, wallet, fishing licence in a small dry bag. That's been good insurance for float protection as well. I don't spend time texting or fiddling with my phone when I'm fishing. For a camera I use a (relatively cheap) Kodak Playsport with a float and lanyard attached to it.

As for the Navionics, it is available to put the chip in my ff/gps combo unit, but I have been balking at the price, and have been content with the basic maps that are pre-installed. But for a $10 buck app that does the same thing thats a bargain!
