Hello fellow yakkers!!!  hahaha
I was wondering if it was safe to blood splice from braid to braid?  I ran short on my baitcaster and I do not want to unspool it and re-spool it.  I also do not want to lose a fish if I do splice the braid to braid.  Thanks guys, your tribal knowledge is greatly appreciated.

There is more than one knot to achieve braid to braid connections. I think blood splicing should be fine if targeting lighter fish ie(salmon, trout or small sturgeon) but if targeting oversized sturgeon or tuna ect, I would just re-spool my reel as any knot in your braid is a definite weakness.

Your knot is only a weakness if it is a poor knot or poorly tied.

Just an idea... you could take a small swivel and tie both lines to the swivel. Assuming that it would pass through the guides and possibly the eye of a levelwind. I run my lead core line to a swivel and then tie on fluorocarbon top shots to the other end just like I described and under the right use and circumstances it works just fine.

How much line you have left on the spool?  And how much are you looking to add?

Why not splice in the new piece of line and then take the line off the reel and put it on (backwards) with the knot and new piece on the bottom of the spool. You would probably never see the knot again or have to worry about the knot going through the guides.

Yes, but it does not take a lot for some people.

Well, whatever my first post would have been would be a lot more intelligent than what you have in the upper right corner of your header?
