Okay I have  super top secret project going on that is a little less secret as I post a few tidbits onto the board.  Lol.  Always up to something.

Maybe we will make a game of it.  What's the application??? The hint is I hope it pays for itself in year one.  Anticipated investment year one is about $2,000 cheap end up to $4,000 top end.  It's not a propulsion device of any sort.

So, I want to mount a piece of electrical gear that requires 24volts onto my kayak.  It draws 20amps max but averages 2 to 3 amps.  I need a system that will work for upto 5 hours at a time and maybe swap out batteries.  Am I looking at a 40amp hour battery or maybe two 10 amp hour batteries?

The intent is quite evil in many ways...but I hope its not perceived that way on this board.  I may need to recruit a few folks here in AK if I can get by the proof of concept.  After bouncing it off a few folks, the answers have ranged from "you are F'n nuts!" to "OMG...that is GENIUS!"  Split evenly about 50/50 out of 6 folks or so I have talked to.  Haha.

But I'm hoping the battery question will be easier.

Does it have something to do with keeping you warm up there in AK?

Good luck with your project!

Good guess but pain and suffering avoidance doesn't have a monetary pay back...usually.

A pic...

So now you see the equipment I'll offer a tiny prize...hmm...no clue what, to guess the plan.

1) the purpose of equipment
2) why I would bother. Or in other words, what's the grand slam outcome....

A few more hints...
Success means at minimum an upgrade to the TI but more likely a larger non motorized vessel...

Success might be possible without said equipment and require only an additional $75 investment...but I'm dreaming big...haha.

Revision based on your image....

It's a pot puller for those yummy lil pink spots!  I'll beta test for you back on Chocrane!

Close! But no cigar! Shrimp is limited entry permit and the state of AK in its water ( 3 miles) doesn't allow for long lining of any kind...oops, I've said too much...

Really, I thought there is halibut longlining within 3 miles.  At least the last time I was in Valdez, the local charters were complaining that if the longliners caught wind of a bite going on, they'd clear the area out of fish, and they were talking about areas that for sure were within 3 miles.

Technically set groundline for halibut isn't considered long lining.  Long lining is not considered "fixed gear" like halibut gear.  So everyone's on the right track.  But success of the plan is only a little bit contingent on me catching a bunch of fish this year.  MUCH bigger picture!!!  Let's just say I studying North Pacific Fisheries Management Council and State of AK Board of Fish procedures.

Once I get back to a real computer, I'll lay it out.  It's almost too ridiculous but I've got a few people on board and more than one person wants me to try it to check out some feasibility and legal issues. Keep guessing until then.

And no, seining is also limited entry permits. I'm not going to spend that kind of money.... I hope!
