Do you have something particular in mind Spot?  I might be able to get out Saturday, Friday if I beg.

Funny you should ask Brian....

I have a very rare and valuable Saturday to myself this weekend.  With the swell forecast looking so small, I was thinking of picking up a limit of Blacks and Lings and maybe trying for Halibut points around some north coast sea stacks.  It all depends on wind conditions of course.

You interested?

I was going to do the KAFF thing, but I have to leave early on Sunday for a small international nerd workshop in Athens, Georgia.  http://www.gisinetwork.org/  Anyway, I didn't like the idea of giving only a halfhearted attempt when honor is on the line so I had pretty much written it off.

Now Spot brings up an option for getting some salt on my boat again... so I'm interested.  I still have to check that the wife hasn't already made plans.  Given that I'll be gone for a week starting Sunday chances are she'd rather we spent some family time.  Maybe I can convince her to come along to the beach with our son.  That's assuming that she'll let me put the kayak on the Volvo.

I'll be in Seaside for the weekend I was thinking Tbay for springers or Astoria for sturgeon, right now I'm leaning more towards the sturgeon but if the ocean is calm it would be fun give it a go out there.

Springers and Sturgeon are really tempting but NOAA is making me an offer I can't refuse.  I'm planning on launching in the early AM for some jigging and maybe some bottom trolling around Tillamook Head.  Brian, did you get a pass?  Anyone else want to hook up for some salt?

Spot,

I don't have the pass in hand yet and it doesn't look very promising but I haven't given up all hope yet.  Going fishing the day before I leave for a week isn't going to sit well, but the I really want some ocean time.

Where are you planning on launching...  Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach, some where to the north of Tillamook head?

Do you have VHF?  Do cells work well out there?  I've been to Ecola State Park, but  I never bothered with my phone.  I'll update you tonight about whether I'll be able to make it our not.

I'm really bummed, it looks like I won't be getting out tomorrow at all.  I was really hoping to try the family day at the beach with some fishing for Brian, but that didn't fly.

Nice Spot, it was killing me all yesterday as I went "Antiqueing" with my wife.  BTW, "Antiquing" basically means she looks at a bunch of fragile old stuff we can't afford while I wrangle our toddler who wants to break it all.

Between travel comp time I'm earning from work and the recent antiquing WAF pts I'm so ready to spend more time on the water.

Nice job Spot, that's a hefty black. We went out at Sunset yesterday and it started awesome, we could tell it was gonna be an Epic day, until a gang of fur bags showed up and hung around us eating and/or scaring all the fish away.. >:(

Two showed up about ten minutes after we got there and then i heard two barks from one sea lion and then three more came cruisin in... Needless to say, the bite completely ended.
See ya on the water..
