I hope that this as not a duplicate of my previous answer since it just disappeared of the screen. I was not clear on my last post as to Oregon requirement for registering motorized kayak.
After sending in my paperwork that I downloaded from their web cite. Paperwork was sent back and the agent called from Salem and she explained that my kayak had to be inspected by Marine Patrol officer, and that paper work with additional 30.00 would be necessary. 100 or so dollars later I got my Oregon boat title for the Cuda with the boat registration or Proof of Numbers.
When operating under power this registration must be on board or your person. Zvonko

bummer, after I sent my paperwork, they sent back that I needed to send a Manufacturer's Statement (or Certificate) of Origin (MSO or MCO), so I called, they e-mailed a 30 day temp. immediately, then I explained that I bought it used in Oregon and didn't have paperwork, they just had me e-mail in a picture of the HIN and one of the whole kayak and that was it, the registration and decals came in the mail the next week...cheers, roger

So, since we're both getting sail kits too, my wifes Revo11's gonna cost $5 a year and after a $30 title my Revo13's gonna cost $23.50 a year. Not terrible I guess. (We're Oregon)

Years back I had a 4 wheeler stolen and found  about a year later. They told me if it hadn't been registered it wouldn't have gone on a list to be found. Something about having the title as proof of ownership for the cops and the insurance. Don't know how that'll apply with our kayaks.

I,m also going to put a motor on my Kayak. and after reading your post Thought I would look into the Regs.
so first E- mailed Fish and Game. they sent me to Parks and and Recreation. sent an E-mail and talked with
Angela Harper. She was very Helpful.
and as you know the exceptions are.

Vessels that are not propelled by a Motor ( canoes, Kayaks, ect)
Vessels that are less than 16 feet in length and have a motor of 10 horsepower or less and are used only on non-federal waters.

So My Kayak is only 12' and I'm only using up on the lakes I'm Good.
but over 16' you would need to Register it.

I also have a call into the Clark Co. Sheriff Dept. Marine unit. Still wating back from them.

Parks and Recreation.  360 397-8500 E-Mail  [email protected]  [email protected].
She also is a Kayaker.
