I foresee a point deduction amendment increasing headaches for the judges. It opens the door to even more bitching and moaning. I think it would be too hard to set a standard for that kind of rule change.

I agree with Snopro, make it easy to judge your catch as valid or expect it to be disqualified. You can upload 3 pictures for each submission and I'm a fan of using all of them: 1 the entire fish, 2 a close up of the tail where it intersects the measuring scale, 3 the fresh fish shot in kayak on the water or as soon as it's safe to take a picture. Irrefutable evidence of the catch and the measurement, make it easy for everyone and get back to fishing. I often put in a comment on where and how I got the fish with the goal of encouraging more kayak fishing. I don't subscribe to the "secret spot" theory, I've learned everything from someone else so I'll pass it on.

I've had several fish tossed out for mouth too far open so I'm in favor of closed mouth it makes the rules clear. I look forward to seeing it applied consistently in 2014.

Yep, deductions would just open up a new can of worms and be a huge PITA. Take a good picture, or it gets DQ.

I had a question. For Oregon, how specific do you need to be for location of salt water species? Is "Pacific" all you need?

The only time you'd need to be more specific than that is when legal retention of the species you catch depends on where you are.  For example, halibut and salmon are species where the regulations change depending on where you are on the coast.

That reminds me, I think you should have to use the name of the water body as it's listed in the regs.  It only makes sense.  I know, another rule. ;)

This pretty much sums it up.  Just tell us where your fishing so we know enough to know that it's legal.  If you're not a tinfoil hat type, tell where you were (PC, Farmer John's pond, Brown Trout Creek, etc)

Don't worry about it.  If you want to pay now, it'll all work out.

Are we supposed to receive additional information on how to submit fish entries after paying?
