Trophy Sized Rainbow Trout Video - Winter at Rufus Woods

Yaktrap & I just returned from North Central Washington / Rufus Woods Lake targeting big rainbow trout. The swells looked huge.  I'm glad you made it back safe.

Nice rainbows.  What were the air/h2o temps?

A balmy 25-30 degrees.  Water temps were a hair above 39 degrees.  Marked a lot of fish but only a few takers.

We saw one boat and there were a couple of guys fishing from the bank.  There's a lot of paddling area if you can handle the cold.

Nice fish guys, too bad its not closer, tho I suppose thats why there are so many trophy trout there.

Saw a PB go by and plunk for them about half a mile away for a couple hours on day 1. A few bank anglers that produced one fish that we know of. We got 6 total between the two of us for 2 days of effort (6 hours fishing effort per day). But it is the type of cold that zaps your strength by the end of the day, so be prepared for it if you go.

They are awesome tasting with none of that muddy trout flavor.

It's still 2 fish/angler per day. When I wrote 3 fish/day, I meant total between 2 of us.

Brad limited on day 1 and I got 1 fish, I limited on day 2 and he got 1 fish.

when I saw your 3 fish a day, I got out my print copy of the Regs and they said Rufus woods , All game fish state rules.  But I looked online, and it says that 2 trout is the limit.  Still, those were some nice fish, and the ones that got away may be the ones that get in my net, LOL

Only a 5hr drive for me.....  Fish like that would make it worth a weekend trip.

Nice work!  That place remains unchecked on my ToDo list.  I really need to get over there!
