Well Hello all!

My name is Scott and not only am i new to the board, But the sport as well! I live in oregon and look forward to getting my Yak out ASAP... Will probably do my maiden voyage on devils lake this weekend.

I actually bought the malibu mini-x on craigslist. Very happy with my purchase after shopping around.

Any advice on my Yak would be greatly appreciated.

Also looking to buy another Fishing yak... So if anyone has one they would like to sell .. I'm looking for one for the wife and want to try to keep the cost down...

Thanks!

Scott

Welcome Scott.  Where in Oregon are you?  If you're heading to Devil's Lake I'm guessing you're some where near Lincoln City right?

As for advice on the mini-X, they seem to be great little river boats and do well in the surf, but they're probably not the ideal candidate for any long distance paddle and not a ton of room for gear.  Personally I like small kayaks and the fact that they are light, easy to load, and can fit into the back of my pickup.

Enjoy your new boat.  I'm looking forward to your first fishing reports.

Well then Scott, welcome to the Portland Crew.

Let me know when you want to go fishing around Portland.  The spring salmon season is pretty much over, but the local lakes are stocked with trout, the bass bite is on, the shad are running, and the sturgeon bite year round.

Ahhhh, you had me going there, I thought I was gonna get a local yak fishing buddy on the lake.  I have yet to see another fishing kayak out on the lake.
