Yakbum.  What started as a hobby quickly morphed into an addiction, then transcended addiction and became a lifestyle.   Hi my name is Fil, and I no longer have a problem.  I am a yakbum.  I eat, breathe and sleep kayak fishing.   All I think about is fishing.  You know that fake statistic about the average man thinking about sex every 7 seconds?  Yeaaahh.   My biggest redeeming quality is that I bring large quantities of smoked fish to work.  I spent the whole day creating a sweet graphic just to tell everyone that I am a yakbum.  I am one who goes through life searching for the quintessential yakbum ideal.  What it is? I don’t know.   Is it the high? Maybe, the high is good, the high is real.  But the high isn’t permanent and it doesn’t come often.  You only catch the fish of a lifetime …once in a lifetime.  The first time you see a bald eagle flying overhead or a grey whale rolling 20 feet away is awe inspiring… the first time.  As a social being we all enjoy a good day of fishing with friends, but most of the time I am fishing alone.   I feel most alive when I am surrounded by fog to the point where there is nothing but water around me, it doesn’t matter if I stop moving or keep going,  I am on the Dawntreader at the edge of the world.  Searching for… something.  A connection to the earth, the rod and line just a device to probe the depths, to explore a world I have not seen and do not know, once in a while pulling up a small piece to keep for my own.  When the wind blows and the swells rise and the rain comes the only thing keeping me from the depths, from being blown or pulled out to sea, is myself.  Everything I catch and everything I accomplish I did and do for myself, by myself, no one else can do it for me.   A metaphysical philosopher of piscatorial pursuits in the purest way possible.  Is it an art, or is it a science?  Is it the journey or the destination?
Call me FIL THE CHUB MASTER!

Ahhhhh yeah....   :headbang:

I always thought Yakbum is what I got after sitting for multiple hours in wet shorts, but your definition is much better.
Thanks for stoking the fire.
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

YakBum.  I like it Fil.  It's the new Twirking for 2014.

When you start making clothing (like cutthroat trout skin board shorts) like this http://www.alltackle.com/pelagic_fishing_shorts.htm count me in.  :)
