One of these days I would like to get back down to Shelter cove to fish. Its in Humbolt county, my wife and I lived there for 9 months at an area called kuluna cliffs. It was an equstrian camp ground. We lived in a 21' travel trailer with no power and an out house. It was the best time we have ever had living anywhere. (no we weren't growing dope) We had a trailer that sat right on the edge of the cliff and over looked the the ocean. I would go down when I wasn't working and fish and dive for abs, or just comb the beach. I think a kayak trip there would be a greattrip. There is a small protective cove to launch from, but there is still surf to launch through. Allan you should check it out some time in your travels. It is west of Garbervile Ca. Boxofrain I dont think that you are too far from it maybe a couple hours. It sure was a great place. Used to wake up in the morning and sit on the picnic table outside and drink my coffe and watch the fog roll in and out below me. It was lik you could walk on it. huuhhh! Used to find the glass floats all the time. anyway. that would be a great trip.

all right then
Matt

FLOATIN,
BEAUTIFUL area, you just can't go wrong on the west coast!
I don't travel much, stay at home kinda guy. The ocean is less than 1/4 mile from my home and I can hear the bouys whistle in the fog and surf.
When I want to launch I have several choices here. I can leave out of the mouth of the river (Chetco) using a public dock or simply park under the North end of the bridge and put in the water. Or any of a number of roads that lead down to the water that are less than a few blocks from here, some are small protected coves with minimal surf and some are a little more of a challenge to break thruogh the surf. Doesnt matter because they all lead to good fishing areas as we are surrounded by reefs.
