I am the owner of an Outback now and the big question is "Where does the FF go?"  One FF that was suggested was this... http://www.cabelas.com/product/LOWRANCE-ELITE-HDI-W-DSI-COMBO/1727735.uts

What might you recommend for a FF?

Where would you install it?

I am gonna look for a way to temporarily install it via one of the front pole holders and go with the thru the hull mount.

I just don't want to drill until I know what I want on this platform.  But I like to learn from others... teach me your ways!

If you want to fiddle with buttons or you can't see the screen from far away, I would go with a mount that puts the unit close to you. I sent you a text of where I put the gear trac to slide my FF on and off the mount with ease.
If you don't need the FF that close and you don't need to push a lot of  buttons, then I'd say go with mounting with the mast hole. It's already there and they make mounts that fit the hole, or you can make your own. It's out of the way and you don't need any holes.
There are plenty of threads about mounting FFs and making use of the forward rod holders on the outback. That's another way to utilize the hole. You have to get a little crafty but again you're not drilling holes.

RAM mounting in the sail mast with a wedge ball works best for me

Hey Rev, I use the forward rod holder as the location for my FF. I like it because it is close enough that I can fiddle with the buttons and see it clearly like Ling Ling said. I have arms like a T Rex though so it needs to be closer for me. You do have to drill a hole large enough for the FF cable connector to fit through but you don't see it because it's in the bottom of the holder. Hope it helps.

I attached mine to the mast mount with some water line I had lying around.  I used it last summer and was pretty happy with it.  Easy to see, quick set up and take down, no drilling.  I ran the battery wires to the battery in the front hatch.  I'm going to build a version of the cell block just to clean up the wires a bit.

On my 13' Revolution, I mount my fish finder on a track next to my calf, where it's easy to see and easy to operate its buttons.

The fish finder on my 13' Trident is mounted in the fish finder pocket in front of the footwell.  It's harder to see, and I have to slide forward in my seat and reach way forward past my feet to push the buttons, so I find that I don't use the features of the fish finder as effectively as I would if it was easy to reach.

I have an extra 1" wedge mount, still in the packaging, that I'm not using.  I bought 2 from RAM, but will cost me more to send it back than it's worth.  Sail mount was too far away for me to reach my fishfinder, but using the other mount to mount my go pro.  Just waiting on the 18" extension arms.

Next Adventure doesn't stock it normally, so had to order them.  I'll be at the Springer Clinic tonight, if anyone would like to buy it.  I paid $15 plus shipping.

I used round Scotty flush mounts in the 2 front pole holders on my outback. Along with those I added Ram wedge mounts for my FF and rod holder. I can use either Ram mounts or Scotty mounts with minimal time to switch out.

I installed a flush mount scotty mount just to the other side of the rod holder.  It's still close enough that i can change screen and mark locations but far enough away that it doesn't get in the way.
