I'm in the market for a new salmon sized cooler and putting out some feelers to see where the deals are. I like Igloo's line and just so happens the 100 quart size is gonna be on sale @ WM for $81. Anyone know of any better deals?

Is that like this one ?

http://www.amazon.com/Igloo-MaxCold-100%252dqt%252e-Full%252dSize-Travel/dp/B000L9FJOC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_5/105-9261857-5762054?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1213204249&sr=8-5

of course shipping would be expensive if bought online, but if you could find it locally, might save a few bucks

Not exactly the same but close. Yeah the thing is w/ big products online shipping is a killer. I did find some at Costco but I don't remember the prices seeming that great. Will have to check again.

The one CBY posted at Amazon is through Target.  May want to check your local Target.

Costco has some big marine Igloos for a similar price.  The marine coolers are supposed to have UV inhibitors in the plastic so they don't turn brittle as fast in the sun.

Though for whitewater rafting I just went with the standard Igloo "max cold" coolers and they have held up great.  I like Igloo's because they have real hinges and latches and you can replace them if they break (instead of strips of plastic that fold).  You can get a 100 qt max cold for 75 bucks or so.

BTW, I do suggest the one that has more insulation and longer ice lifespan.  Is this the MaxCold?  Remember, we're going to be up at Moutcha for 3-4 days and everything will be on ice.  So we gotta make it last.

The max cold and Coleman extremes both use a higher grade insulation than standard coolers.  They actually do work... on desert rafting trips my max cold will keep ice a good 2 days longer than friends old marine coolers (even longer if I am good about keeping a wet towel on top of it for evaporative cooling).  They are worth the extra $$.

Now that's a great idea about keeping a wet towel on top.  I'll be sure to use that tip this summer.

I had to go by Wal Mart (I hate that place) to buy diesel engine oil yesterday, and noticed they have large (like 120 qt) Igloo coolers with the ultratherm insulation for $50 bucks.  They are not labeled as a 5 day cooler like the maxcold ones, but are all white and look like nice units (have the full hinges, nice handles and latches like other Igloo).  I also noticed they have Coleman 5-day coolers in the 100 qt size for about $70 bucks.

Outdoor Emporium on 4th ave in Seattle has zippered, insulated fish bags for about $25 or so----sized for a 15-20# king.  With a bag of ice, keeps the fish in pristine condition, and takes MUCH less space than a cooler---in fact, you can carry it rolled up under the bungees until you score.  I keep one of these in the fish box on my Arima, it's vinyl so it's easy to hose it out after you get home.
