Hey Spot,

Can you suggest a weight size for me and rigging ?
I am currently trying a deep six for trolling.

Thanks Fishinchick

In most conditions, I'd go 4oz without a flasher and 6oz with a flasher.
At Davis Bar you can get away with heavier weights if you prefer because the bottom is pretty uniformally sand with few snags.  If you were fishing the Willamette, you'd want to go a little lighter so that you're tapping bottom rather than dredging.

Best bite I have seen all season. Saw 20 fish for about 50 boats this morning. Heard of fish from Catepiller to above 205.

Looks like we may have a few biters on Saturday.  PS  Bring your rain hats.

I don't want to see the springer reports on Monday. Please refrain, you would be sentencing me to an agonizingly slow death.   :'(

This is more of a request than a "safety police" thing, but I wanted to say please make sure you have the proper immersion gear for this event.
Without naming any names, last year there was a canoe of 3 people who chose to wear blue jeans and cotton hoodies because as one guy put it "I've been doing this for over 25 years and I'm not planning on falling in". Dry under-layers made of sweet wicking material or wool, waders and a dry top, or a drysuit are the typical immersion gear. If you don't have waders and a dry top or a drysuit, please say something before hand as some of us have backups/extras we will gladly loan out.
I just felt like I had to bring this up as a friendly reminder, and a polite request.

  That's just wrong  :o

Still debating making the drive...that's a lot of miles for a single salmon (at least I think that is the limit).

But I am really wanting to come down.

Don't be too surprised to see me.

It's two if you have an Oregon license and fish in the Willamette.   ;)

I plan to get there early tomorrow and get on the water quickly, so I'll ask my main question of the experts now.  Can you place these in order of likely success?

Herring
Prawns
Spinners
Kwicks

Also, radios?  Channel?

Thanks!

I plan on trolling herring, but all will work.  Radios are not needed, but if you have one we will be on Channel 69.

See you tomorrow.

I haven't gotten my kayak wet since ORC. Can you believe that?

Like riding a bike, hopefully!  I thought it was bad enough going just a few months without being on the water...

Glad you two are getting back out there - let us know if you need any help!!    ;)
