I'm thinking of hitting the Willamette at the Sellwood Bridge on Sunday morning but here's the deal:

- I am new to kayak fishing

- I am new to gear fishing (only really fly fished before)

- I have never fished for salmon

-I have never trolled in a river

Somebody talk me out of going.

I'm making the drive up to fish for dinos in the Swan Is. Basin tomorrow. You're welcome to join. I have only fished there one other time. I thought about trying for springers but I feel like I have a better chance trying my luck with sturgeon. I like that I don't need an anchor in the basin and there is a good chance of having one of those crazy days like the ones being reported by other members.
Send me a message if you're interested.

Don't feel like you need to be in the middle of all the boats to catch fish. Work the areas close to shore, 7-15 feet of water can produce fish, especially when the water is high. It should be a nice day out there, good luck!

A much easier place to fish would be the lower 1/8th mile of the holgate channel behind Ross Island out just past the bridge.  The water is fairly shallow and has already produced some fish this year.
Also, keep your gear simple.  Skip the flasher.

I would love to join you, sounds like the springer fishing is starting to heat up.   I will have to move a few things around in my schedule but will definetly try to make it.  What time and where?  I will know for sure tonight.

The southern part of the channel.  Just above (or below) the Ross Island bridge.  That's a nice mellow spot.
