Awesome place for kayak fishing.

Good call on August.  That's prime time for near shore halibut..... and I do mean near. Think 200lbers in 40 feet of water!

Is the trip going to be road system oriented or more remote?  Looking forward to seeing more details.

Yup. that's why we're going there and then.  Shallow water butts = SLAYRIDE!

"We" is myself, Spot, kardinal, and Bushy.  It's been too long since I've been back to Alaska.  Company welcome, get a group and come on over.  We've rented a house in town and plan on hitting the road system for beach launches.  Got a little intel that needs checking out ...

Second vehicle and/or trailer I bet puts you high on the priority list!!!

I believe those dates were picked based on the ferry schedule. But I should let polepole as the organizer chime in.

How much would it cost to get a trailer over on the ferry?

I'm not the organizer!  Mark is the house master, you're the ferry master, bushy is the date master.  I just need to do my job and get a couple extra kayaks up to Alaska!

Lee, ferry rates are based on length.  A car up to 19' is about $180 each way.  Each traveller is $74 each way.   And a berth is a little over $100.  It's a red eye sailing so a berth is nice.  I'm guessing a trailer is another $180 each way.  With 4 guys with 4 kayaks and their gear, I'm guessing it would be very difficult to do this in one car.

I might happen to know a guy (me) who has a couple extra yaks. And Kenai is on the way to the ferry.  That's prime time hunting season though...with a goat, caribou, and moose special draw tags I might be busy.  Time will tell.

Gimme a shout if you need to borrow a rig
No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

WHAAA????  I'm in charge of the ferry?  Better start booking, it can fill up in a hurry.  I'll do more of the leg work for at least four people and a vehicle as soon as I can.  We better get the vehicle/and or trailer situation figure out soon then!!

It should be AWESOME!!

With trailers, consider a day out of Anton Larson Bay and a water taxi out a ways. We are heading down in end of May to fish big kings, halibut, yellow eye, and anything else that swims...kayak carry-ons are only $20 on ferry wo a vehicle, I think.

I have a few friends on Kodiak, and in laws over in Port Lions...as your trip draws near, and the count  is more accurate--we might be able to connect you with some folks. My boss lives down there and has a decent fishing skiff--maybe a ride out to buoy 4.

Oh, crap, now I'm talking myself into going along for a few days...

All are welcome.  We booked for the 4 of us because it was hard enough just getting us aligned that we thought we'd get our ducks in order, then open it up.  Hope to see more of you going, and yes, we can work on teaming up on aspects of it.
