I am passing on the love for kayak fishing to a friend of mine... much like ohbryant did for me... however, I need some guidance on neah bay conditions for a newbie for March 31 - Apr 2.

I am most concerned about wind since we could escape a good bit of swell if we go to the strait side.  Obviously Wednesday is a no-go.

With a huge storm scheduled for the 2nd you are rolling the dice on the weather right before. Wouldn't be my pick for a newbie ....
Even if the forecast doesn't change both the 31st and the 1st are showing gusts in the high teens. That kind of wind can be an ass kicker.

I was checking swell and period this morning, and if it doesn't improve, I'm not going to drive out there.

What's going on in neah bay?

I am going hell or high water.  the 28-31st are the last 4 days I will have a legal WA fishing license, and I am gonna go out big.  my plan is to fish around sail island, on the strait.  if conditions don't allow it I will head to forks for steelhead, I was gonna bank it, but if you have the experience to run some rivers id be up for that too.  not for the faint of heart and definitely not for beginners in any way.  Monday I was going to chance la push.  watching conditions closely to see how this chapter ends.

I'm not sure taking him out those days will have him fall in love with kayak fishing. Strong tides and strong wind will most likely have a different result.
In my humble opinion, I would try for la push monday tuesday wednesday.
I also wouldn't take someone for thier first time out there.
You could launch from snow creek and fish seal rock. There is also a ship wreck just past seal rock that fishes good, tide willing.

Has this friend been in a kayak before?  This weekend is not looking like a good time for beginner, even on the straits

We are looking at Monday and Tuesday. He has been in kayaks (sink) a good bit he says. I think he took a multiple lake kayak camping trip with some friends last summer.
