Bumping this up to keep it current. Also, I have questions:

I'm not terribly familiar with either Veinto State Park or Rowena / Mayer State Park. Any advice? It looks like Rowena / Mayer State Park has a boat ramp, but I'm not seeing any put-ins at Veinto. How far do you have to roll your kayak there to put in, and what kind of terrain is it?

Or should I just hope we get 25 or fewer participants? :)

Also I assume there will be further instructions on the official sign-up page regarding details like fishable areas, etc.

Looking forward to this event. I'm glad someone is doing something in the area.

:banjo: Yee-haw! I'm way more excited for this one than I should be, considering how little I've fished up there. Still... river bassin' is my roots, man! Thanks langcod!

Just realized that we don't have any softball tournaments scheduled that weekend - I should be good to go.  Will be interested in meeting up with folks...

Also, I may have to get my son out there with me - unless there was a local kayak bass tournament that we missed last year, he'll be needing to defend his title from 2012!

I am happy to announce the addition of a couple more sponsors. Gerber Gear has donated several River Shorty Safety Knives as prizes. Pro-Cure Scents and The Fish Grip will be providing scent samples and a pair of grips in the captain bags of the first 30 participants. A big thank you to these companies and all of other sponsors as well. I'll be updating the front page with a prize list and registered participants periodically.

I'm really excited about this and hope that you guys are getting pumped up. It's going to be a bunch of fun.

Christine and I are in the game. Shoot, a fish grip is like what, $15? Not a bad gimme!

Pray for a calm day...

Most of the Columbia is fishable with either an Oregon or Washington License.

Additionally I believe you can launch from Oregon and still fish with a Washington license if you're in the shared water (i.e. mainstem), and important point for this competition, since the 3 possible launches are all in Oregon.

Thanks I knew this was shared waterway but didn't know if it was a different set of rules if you launch from Oregon side.

I'm going to try waiting for my wife's work schedule to see if I can get away.
Thanks still working on the blog.
