Caught my first kokanee this weekend + my first fish on a downrigger.
 I decided to go Lucky peak Saturday in a downpour to test out my new walker downrigger. I was using a 4 lb weight, Scotty release, small silver dodger, a pink hoochie with white Berkley maggots, trailing my dodger 18 in. I was marking fish at 20  to 30 feet and on the bottom (up to 200 feet) with no luck, so I kept my weight at 20 and trolled into shallower water and that's when she hit it, 12in silver kokanee 20 feet down in 40 feet of water. I released her, made a reststop, and that's when the wind picked up. Found out pretty quick the drag of my 4 lb weight and a steady 10mph forced me to turn left, even with my rudder cranked to the right.  There was enough spray and rain to short out my lowrance,  and that was it for me, back home by noon just in time for a nap.
 Now it's time to install my new rudder onto the outback.  Lucky for me Idaho river sports in Boise had one in stock.
