Finally getting my own kayak, an ocean trident 13.  Hopefully getting out Saturday (weather dependent) and trying to knock the skunk off with a Halibut.   Got to beat the 85lber I caught off my neighbors kayak.   I'll get some pictures up after I get it,  even Tully I run alot lighter than alot of yall it seams.   Small bucket with some extra setups,  pole,  bait,  and hand gps with charts.
I fish right of my house and the water right now is gorgeous.   It's killing me!

Congratulations on the new yak! We'll look forward to seeing the pictures -- and hope you get that pristine deck all slimy and bloody on your first foray.  I like that minimalist approach -- when I have too much too fool with, I'm too often made a fool of by the ones that get away.

Go get 'em.

You should track down Howard McKim. I haven't personally met him but others who have and from what I've read, he is the premiere AAA kayak fishing guy in AK though I think he's backed off the fishing a bit because he is so busy with the other aspects of kayaking. http://www.ketchikankayakco.com

You've got our envious attention -- with the access SE affords, and with the projected King returns for this season. Even if you don't like eating salmon, a smoked fillet makes a very welcome gift to friends. You get the joy of the catching, they get the joy of the eating.

yep on all accounts, i like to drag a small pixie behind me on a light spinning pole between drifts and catch pinks or silvers.    as for Howard?  i ordered the kayak through him, so ill be meeting up with him this afternoon.  Hopefully pick his brain as for maybe some other areas, maybe see if hes ever looking for someone to tag along with him.....
Ps the current forcast doesnt look so good for this weekend.

been able to get out a little the last few weekends.  nothing on deck, first trip out though i had a whale surface about 30yds in front of me.  startled me a good bit.  then this last weekend she handled the wind well, of course after i called it and headed in and had the kayak put up at my house it settled down(for the rest of the weekend! and i was busy from then out)

Ill knock the skunk off here before to long.

Nice!!! I have to believe unless they are distracted by feeding or fleeing a predator, they knew exactly where you were at. That sighting alone is virtually worth the price of admission to the kayak fishing club!!!  Can't wait to see your successes on the fishing side!!!!!!!
