Has anyone ever tooled around Freeway Lakes south of Albany? I'm thinking of checking it out this weekend. ODFW stocked it with trout this week. I believe it's full of bass as well.

Easy access, easy launch but the Bass can be real bass-tards.  I know that there are huge ones in there but never figured out what they want.

Sorry, sounded weird. White plastics, spinner baits, and jigs for the bass. For the trout  I did best on ye ol' worm under a float. Try targeting just outside the channel ways where it opens up.

I went there once. In case you don't know why it's called Freeway Lakes, here is some insight....

I got skunked but did see some big bass that I spooked. The big lake to the west is nice because most of the land is private so it doesn't get the pressure that the other two get. In Albany there is another spot I want to check out and I think it's called Simpson Park or maybe Simpson Ponds. There are supposed to be bass there as well.

I got busy last week and forgot to give an update on this one. Basically, I won't be going back to Freeway Lakes anytime soon. I had low expectations for this one but it was worse than I imagined. These aren't so much "lakes" as they are "settling ponds". A friend and I tooled around the lakes for about an hour before we got grossed out enough to pull out. Yet the whole time there was a good number of people sitting on the banks with lines in the "water". Hopefully nobody is eating whatever they pull out of there.

I've caught numerous bass and trout out of the ponds when attending a school in the area. You are very correct in assuming what comes out of there is not table fare.
