I put in one day on Omak Lake last week.  I landed over 26 Lahontan Cutthroat Trout.  It's a lot of fun on a kayak if you make it out that way. You are required to have a tribal license and it's C&R until May.  Here's a video I put together.  Still learning the edit functions...

very cool...Omak is definitely on my "to do" list...Did you stay overnight or did you blast up and back in a single day? Hoping to get a recommendation or some intel on camping opportunities up there.

I took three days out there.  We left late Monday afternoon and fished most of the day Tuesday.  There's no camping at the lake, though a guy fishing off the beach says he sleeps in his attached camper in the the lot at the south end of the beach and hasn't run into any problems.  There is a campground right in downtown Omak.  There are a handful of camping spots and several RV spots.  My buddy and I hoteled it two nights and hit Rufus Woods on the way back and Fish Lake.

Beautiful fish and looks like a beautiful place. I'm going to have to increase my tolerance for long drives in order to fish these beautiful, uncrowded spots.

Brad is lying, there are no fish at Omak Lake.  None, nadda.

If there were fish, they would taste like absolute garbage when smoked.

And the views are absolutely aweful.

Don't forget to pass right by the Tin Lilly, the food is aweful.

  Wow
Those are some really nice cutties...thanks for sharing.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Lee, why is your wife always catching bigger fish than you? :)

Rory, no luck at Rufus Woods.  I had two bites over about 4 hours of fishing. We hit Fish Lake just before sunset and I got a nice triploid.

2012 her biggest cutt was like 10 inches and I got a 22.  Then she got a 23 and I think I got a 16" in 2013.  But yeah, she does normally catch bigger fish than I do, unless I'm out solo, then I catch monster Lings  :-)

I'm down there monthly, and had no idea there was fishing like that to be had!  Figured Omak was just a walmart and a Big-R  ;)

No you are not allowed. Seriously you have enough AOTY points! Just kidding. I am heading up there in early June for 3 or 4 days so if you want company we should coordinate.
