Great video.  Yeah, that current was moving pretty well.  He easily could have been toast had you guys not been there.

I know what that kid was thinking...the same thing all the guys here thought at 16..."Hey good lookin's...watch what I can do..."
He just chose a REALLY poor place to do it!!

You guys did a great job!  Many people finding themselves in a stressed situation like that wig out...You both looked calm and in control.

Awesome!
 :thumbsup:

(Maybe in thanks, he'll come over and mow your yard...)

Well Done!   You did yourselves proud by saving that numbnuts life.  I agree that you should send the video to the media and let them have their way with him.

But better yet, send it to the Railroad that operates that bridge, if it is still in use.   Let them go after him for trespassing on railroad property.
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

Actually my aunt works for the Coos Bay Rail Link and she said that without a name,  they weren't interested.

You have a big heart.  It sounds like the kid had some attitude.  I probably would have paddled up and asked him "what are you going to do now?"  Then let him request a rescue before offering to help.  Certainly I wouldn't let him drown, but jeez, I hope he learned a lesson here.
