Hello fellow anglers! I am headed up to BC in early July with the yaks and some good friends and was wondering if anyone has fished the Tofino/Ucluelet areas and would be willing to give me a few tips. I have been doing research but wondered if anyone knew any good launches, fishing areas, parking, tide issues, etc. I am really excited for this trip as it will be my first time kayak fishing BC. If anyone is willing to provide any info, it would be much appreciated.

THANKS!

I've paddled in Barkley Sound several times.  Be aware there are rockfish conservation areas that limit fishing activities but I've done well with salmon and other bottom fish when fishing the perimeter of the islands.  Fog can be an issue to be prepared with backup plans.  Strong winds often come up about 11am and stay until later afternoon.  Fishing in the evening calm can be great.  I haven't fished around Tofino so I can't comment about there.

The launch at Toquart Bay is protected and well developed with camping.  The road in has been in good condition all of the times I drove in.

Enjoy, beautiful place with whales, eagles, otters.
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

this will help you with the Rockfish closures.  Be aware these closures apply to ALL GROUND FISH, not just rockfish.  Massive peepee slap if you get caught.  DFO has no sense of humor.

Also, be aware it's now "Tafina".  They changed the name after the FunnyTalker invasion.

Bring all your beer from the US, Canadian prices are three times what they are on your side of the line.

Go as early as you can as it's a tourist nightmare when it gets busy.  Don;t forget to stop at Cathedral Grove, a Park on the drive in.  massive trees.
