No need for anything too heavy for flounder. I like a medium action baitcasting rod/reel...think bass setup. I drop straight down in about 50-60 FOW over a sandy/mud bottom and bounce a drop-shot rig off the bottom as you drift along.  depending on tidal exchange, 1.5-2 ounce cannonball is usually about right and braided mainline with a 3-4' mono leader line will allow you to feel the bottom better. Favorite baits are 3" Gulp swimming mullet in white or green on a 3/0 or 2/0 octopus hook...almost any curly tail rubber grub/worm will work.

Hobie Outback x2 (for fishing)
WS Tsunami 140 (for paddling, wishing I were fishing)
Old Town Dirigo 120 (for rivers)

Nangus let me know when you are back in town. I will get some gear and get set up and hopefully we can arrange a meet up.
