Way to go Alan!   I'm going to give it a shot this weekend, although  the wind looks kind of tough Friday afternoon and Saturday.

Thanks guys.  I actually caught 2 in the same spot but the first one threw the hook right at the yak.  It was smaller anyway so that worked out.

-henny - It wasn't crowded around me but there were lots of boaters using the Freshwater Bay launch to head out to the humps and Ediz Hook.  Only a few other kayakers and I didn't see where they went.

-DWB123 - I paddled about 4 miles from the launch (towards the humps) and was fishing between 130-260 feet of water.  Radio chatter indicated that ~250 feet was where most people were catching.  I would drop my gear at 260 and the current/wind would drift me into shallower water.  I think it was about 145 feet deep where I hooked up.  I caught both in the same spot 5 minutes apart and both hit a white, 8" Berkley Gulp curly tail grub.  Even with mild wind and only 1-1.5 mph current, I still had to use a 24 ounce cannonball to stay on the bottom and there were a couple times even that wasn't quite enough.

-DoubleR - Good luck.

Thanks for the luck Alan.  Finally got my first WA state butt today.   Not huge, at 33", but its gonna eat real nice.  190' deep straight out from the tower/point of the Elwa River, on a hoochie/herring/scent setup, 16 oz.   Stayed out too long and got caught in the afternoon wind again - long trip back to the launch.
