My wife and I will (hopefully) be going to be out for a short trip on Sunday from around 11ish (after the kids take off from their mom's breakfast) to the afternoon.  And then plan on hitting it a bit harder on Monday.

Anyone going to be out?  If so and you see a brown or a green Wavewalk downriggin for Kokes' say Hi!  Love to start associating faces with your comments on here.

I'm not a member of HOW (yet), but I was a patient at American Lake hospital (after Walter Reed in DC, BAMC in San Antonio, TX and three VA facilities) after I was medevacked out of Afghanistan. Once a week, they used to take us out to the dock and let us fish with donated equipment. All we ever caught were bluegills/perch, but getting out of our rooms was a nice break. Since that time, I've gotten into kayaking and onto the NWKA forum where I've learned there's more than sunfish in that water. So, I cant this week, but would really like to get back up there and try it some time. Good luck to you and Mrs wideonmangh if you guys get out.

Thanks for your service and thanks for the encouragement!  I will certianly post up the results be they good or the perverbial "it was just good to get out on the water" excuse to cover our sour grapes.  ;D

Well we didn't make it to American on Mother's day but stayed close to home and played with with the stockers on Horseshoe lake it was all C&R but was beautiful to be on the water.

Today I did make it to American. However, I borrowed my sons truck and he forgot to take his work keys off the chain, so I had to go deliver them.  I also had to stop by Home Depot to get some Ductseal to put the depth finder transducer on the new boat.  Got everything done and finally got on the water sometime around 10am.  Didn't find any fish on my way up past the island,  did a couple of passes and headed over to the other side looking.  Covered a lot of ground, and finally found some fish showing up over on the VA side.  After doing a couple of passes and no takers, I switched things up.  Next pass fish on and in the boat!  However, it was about 1:50.  I had to be back to pick up my wife from work at 4pm (way on the end of the Key).   Redeployed and hooked up again!  This one got wrapped around the downrigger wire and got off.  I was hurrying trying to get one more in the boat, and got a tangle. Still have a bit of work to do on my procedure for "duel wield" and stacking the down rigger.  I might need to get an umbrella so I can sail while I put out.

I had to head for shore because my time was up.  But for the 4 short hours I was out there I did get a nice fish.  ;D

By the way, nice meeting you Redfish!

It is tough right now for me to get there earlier. I need to though, because I am tired of "one fish wonder" days. :D
