After striking out for lings @ Shilsole and Magnolia more times than I care to admit, I'm now even more interested in trying Westport's south jetty for bottomfish. I've done it a few times from shore (and seen how hairy it can get out there), but really want to try it from the yak. I should not, and will not do it alone, especially my first time. If anyone's interested in giving it a go with me let me know.

After doing a little bit of research (thanks DoubleR!), it seems like ideal or at least doable conditions are "4' or less swells, 2-3 times for period, 1.5 mph currents (low tide exchange), and less than 10 knot winds.  any wind over about 10 knots is going to add breakers to the swell."

So, I'll be fiddling around trying to find a date in which those currents are doable (which you can determine with some  confidence well ahead of time), but realize that same confidence in projection can't be done w/ swells or wind.

Anyone with some advice or interest in joining, feel free to chime in.
