Travels will be taking me to Eugene and I am looking on some advice for Fern Ridge.  Launches, fishy spots, shady places to take a nap if/when needed...  It is a big chunk of water and am looking for any information.  Thinking of taking the fly rod and some poppers and going after bass.  Will file a report after the trip and promise not to divulge any sensitive information.

Richardson Park (Lane County) http://tinyurl.com/pfoct8h has lots of shady spots and a campground.  Close to some of the bass fishing areas of the lake and a boat ramp.  I've only fished there once with no luck but the scenery was great.

North east side of lake. Just look for the weed beds and log piles. You can also look at googel earth to find some fishy spots. Watch out for the wakeboarders and sailboats

I might suggest other places around or near Eugene area for fishing than Fern Ditch. But if you want a nice afternoon paddle or a swim in the water and nap this is your place.

Quick trip update... Headed to Eugene this weekend and was going to go to Fern Ridge, but was convinced that there were better places to visit in the area.  So I ended up visiting Alton Baker Canoe Canal.  Was an interesting experience fishing in the shadow of Autzen Stadium.  The kayaking was good, fishing not so much.  Fairly shallow with a weedy bottom.  I spent most of my time trolling around the deep parts of the small lake in the middle of the canal.  Brought home a couple of trout for breakfast the next morning.  Also lots of little goslings and ducks to watch.  If you are looking to get out on the water this is a good place to go, if you want a good fishing spot...Might hit some of the reservoirs that are close by!!!
