I'm planning to launch at 7:00 am, but will spend the first hour  or so spearfishing the kelp bed.  So if you see an orange kayak drifting away, that means my anchor line broke and will need help retrieving it.  It's kind of a long swim to the beach. :-)

I'm interested to do the spearfishing there as well. Most of the time I do the scuba, but never done free dive spearfishing before. Looking to join you some day..... Combo trip !!!! spear fish and fishing sound fun

Just curious, have you ever had any luck with halibut there? How far out do you have to go?

Would love to catch a flattie from a yak....

Good luck out there tomorrow.  Remember if you are targeting halibuts, you cannot have any rockfish/lings/cabazon, or pretty much anything else besides salmon on board.

It was great yesterday, but we decided to spearfish first, and then the wind picked up. Here is my buddy's big rockfish. Nearly 22" and over 7 lbs.

The swells were manageable but the wind got us off the water.  Seems like the kelp is receding.  Big rockfish everywhere, not so many ling.
