Join us next Saturday, the 31st of May, for the 2014 Summer Splash!

It's that time of year again, folks! Next Adventure will have a crazy amount of kayaks laying on the grass, ready for you to drag into the Willamette and put through the ringer!  If you're in the market for a new kayak and you're in the Portland area, this is your chance to make up your mind about what you really want.  Members of the Next Adventure/Hobie Fishing Team will be on hand to answer your questions about kayak fishing.  Just like previous years, this event will be held at Sellwood Park, right on the Willamette.  There is plenty of good smallmouth bass habitat in that area as well as the popular springer spots right around the Sellwood Bridge and around Ross Island (let me take this opportunity to remind people that springers are still moving through!).  Bring the family because there are plenty of kayaks to go around! The event starts at 10 am and goes until 5 pm.

Hope to see you there!

For you people trying to get your significant other (the PC police have me well trained) to buy in on a kayak, this could be a good opportunity. Three years ago I mentioned this event to my wife and suggested it could be a fun way to spend the afternoon. She likes the water, and liked to go out in the canoe we had for a couple of years when we first married, but hated the idea of getting a "fishing boat".  She doesn't like to fish, and isn't fond of powerboats in general. Long story short, I got her in a Hobie Oasis, and she instantly fell in love with the ease of getting on a SOT and the pedal drive of the Hobie. She wanted to buy that boat right then and there and take it home - screw all the other people who wanted to demo it. Got a new Oasis the next week.

(There is a downside, however - I have split my kayak time between fishing trips and pure sight-seeing trips.)
