Hey All,

I am new and I have lots of questions for you all.

1. License/registrations reqs for kayaks. Is it for anything over 12 feet?
2. I want to go through the surf, troll on the Big C and monkey around wherever. I was thinking either Hobie Revolution 13 or Adventure. Comments, opinions?
3. What kind of basic safety gear beyond the PFD is recommended for salt water. Does everyone rock the dry suit or is that more of a winter thing?

Feel free to throw in your two cents. I am looking to get all rigged up and rocking by the end of June when my friend gets married near Neah Bay.............. Can't wait to cut some gills......

oh yeah, do you guys wait till you are back in land to bleed fish so as not to attract sharks? the videos seem so....

Thanks, Viking out.

1.  Invasive Species Permit for any paddle craft longer than 10 feet.  $5 per year or get a deal on two years when you get it at REI.
2.  Revo 13.  Best all-purpose boat that Hobie makes IMHO.
3.  Safety flag on a long pole, safety knife and a loud whistle.  Drysuit is nice, but not required.  I have always used a dry pants and dry top combo.  It's cheaper and works fine.  One could also just use a pair of waders with a belt and a splash top but just make sure you have an appropriate layer of clothes for warmth underneath according to the water temp.  VHF radio with knowledge of how to use it properly is recommended.

hey Viking-  welcome to NWKA,....dry suits are fantastic things, I love my Kokatat SuperNova Angler Suit- comfortable and durable, many of us depend on them (and a VHF radio) for maximum safety on big water/rough water/bad weather/whatever...and a safety flag for sure, an aft white LED light also if you plan to be out in low light conditions....cheers, roger

Thanks fellas!

Dropped off the map for a while, but I'm back. I went with the Revo 13. I love it. I haven't caught much yet, but I am looking forward to getting out again soon. I want to try the Lower Columbia. There look to be some good holdover tides that correspond with my time off from work.

You guys ever do floatillas?

Skøl!

Marine patrol is big on the loud whistle. Don't ask me how I know that...
