I think as a general rule of thumb we won't go out if the weather is bad.

If you have a dry suit, one of the great things about kayaking is that you can do it in cool nasty rainy weather, because you're prepared to stay warm and comfortable even if you're in the water.  So when the weather is lousy enough to discourage me from hiking or biking or other fair-weather sports, it's a perfect day to go kayaking.
