Ok….. Have made a final decision and Hagg Lake was chosen as the place I would end up…. A lot of thought went into picking this lake… Such as my wife telling me that her family would be there and that is where I was going…. So I figure………. Its all good.. Going to try to hit it around 7/8AM and stay till around 2pm… Hope to see any of you down there lol…… I’m sure I won’t be missed… A newbie….. Stranded with no paddle floating in the middle of the lake… I can picture it now…….

Info on Hagg lake…

Let us know how it goes.  I just might fish Henry Hagg Lake on Sunday.

I have a pot luck in Hillsboro Saturday afternoon so I didn't think I'd be able to do any fishing.  However, I've just been green lighted to go fishing in the morning as long as I remember to stop by in Hillsboro on the way back to Portland (don't let me forget).

So, I'm planning on showing up at sunrise (5:30ish) and I'll be paddling a small yellow OK Caper.  Any idea where you'll be launching Booker46? If you have a VHF I'll be on 69 otherwise I'll an eye out for you.  Maybe I should bring you a spare paddle in case you loose yours.   Anyway, I don't know what I'll be targeting so I'm going to bring a little of everything.  Hope to see you out there.

Made it out to Henry Hagg Lake (Launch A) at about 5:30am and it was already warm enough to skip the waders and paddle jacket.  Trolled the shore in about 15-20 ft of water and managed a nice 13" smallie.

Ran back into one of the small arms and got a small (11.25") largemouth.

Then spent over an hour trying to find a panfish.  I thought this lake was supposed to full of them.  Anyway, I was rewarded with a 4" bluegill for my patience.   I almost caught a newt in the process.

I trolled a couple more hours.. one missed fish and lost another strong fish that got away with my favorite lake trolling plug (4" yozuri crystal minnow in a rainbow trout pattern).  I was going to head down the the dam to try for a smallmouth upgrade, but by then the water skiers were out in full force and it was getting really hot in my kayak.  I made it off the water by 10:30am and headed home.

Part of my plan was that I was hoping to meet up with Booker46, but I was probably in an out too early and it's a big lake.  Maybe next time.

Uh oh, the B-Man is on the move.  :o  I knew I should have gone fishing instead of surfing today!

Good job on the fishies and nice report.  I think you picked the perfect day and the perfect hours.

Brian bummer I missed you. I ended up running later than expected. First time loading all the gear, think I can do it in half the time now..

Hit the lake around 9:00 and was out in the no wake zone area till about 1:30. So I dropped in at the first main boat ramp and ended up fishing the whole north end.

I ended up going with a friend from work and my wife which was cruising all over in a green drifter. I myself was in my sand colored Malibu Mini.

Hooked into 1 sunfish, 2 small (very small) bass. Had two hard hits but was unable to set hook….Used a wedding ring with a worm trolling.

One thing I learned was SUNSCREEN…… Oh my legs and feet are a tad crispy…..!

Nice variety B! And that bluegill is HILARIOUS!! :D Seeing it on the AOTY board is even funnier!!! ;D Seriously, good work. It's nice to see people reporting and actually catching fish.

I guess I'm sort of hoping there's a prize for lowest scoring AOTY fish.  That bluegill is my current entry for that dubious title.  Besides, 40 pts is 40 pts and I can always upgrade (I better be able to upgrade).  I figure I can always get a 14" glow-in-the-dark, 3-eyed crappie from Swan Island later in the season if I need to.

That HILARIOUS fish knocked me into the cellar...I've got to get out on the Yak soon. It's been almost a month now.  :(
