Been lurking a long time!   Hoping to learn how to kayak fish on the ocean. Going out of Depoe bay wed. if the weather permits. I have fished all my life for fresh water fish and more recently warm salt water fly fishing.  Hoping you folks have suggestions for sea sickness. Big issue for me.

Here's a link to a thread with a lot of words of wisdom about how to avoid or minimize sea sickness:  http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=13321.0 .

I got sea sick on charter fishing trips but haven't in my yak in the bay. Will find out Thursday if that hold true for the sea.

You can't be cold and sea sick at the same time. Just put some sea water down your drysuit and take off your hat.
Go naked or under dress  for the occasion.

If you get sick easy Depot may not be your best choice. The rock wall turns that place into a washing machine when swells bounce back.

drinking Again would imply I stopped Bill!
(Source) You just saw the source in writing feel free to quote me.I would just advice trying it, what does it hurt. I spent 2 weeks throwing up every meal.I could try to look up empirical scientific data, peer reviewed, double blind studies, or you could just try it. Get a perscription for phenegren before you go and bring it with you, if you start getting seasick, either take your shirt off and splash some water on your skin or take a pill.
I watched years of high school kids come to alaska to work for the summer.

Spent a lot of time being sea sick as a kid. Two things worked for me. When I was cold to prove Dirks point. The other is I wasn't sick when catching fish. The solution:  Freeze you tail off and keep catching fish! Don't think this qualifies as empirical data or a proven theorem , might qualify as hysterical though.

Another odd memory is that I knew if I just jumped in, I could swim that mile to shore.

AS the famous qoute says, I can get a good look at a t-bone steak by shoving my head up a butchers ass? Oh wait, i can get a good look at a t-bone steak by shoving my head up a cows ass, but I would rather take the butchers word for it.
