Looks like we are NOT going to be getting a Cabela's retail store in Keizer, OR.

Where did you hear about this?  Keizer is near Salem right?  If this is true, that's pretty exciting.

That looks good to me...so does the Costco in McMinnville

Having been to the Cabela's store in Lacey a coupe of times, I think it leaves something to be desired.  Seems like they have a lot of tackle that isn't so applicable to the fisheries we have here, and they are missing tackle that is applicable.  Not saying that Cabela's can't or won't address this.  That's just been my impression of the current store in Lacey.  I haven't been to the Lacey store in a few months, so perhaps they've addressed this already.

Was there 2 weeks ago to trade in my second pair of leaking waders. No changes in the store really. There was an isle w/ salmon gear that I hadn't seen before though... although it was AN isle. :-\

BTW, the waders are still pretty questionable but the customer service was really good.

For great waders and stellar customer service, go Patagonia.  Just be prepared for the violent wrenching sound of money being ripped from your wallet.

For gear appropriate to our water/species, it is very hard to beat Fisherman's Marine.  Their prices are a tad higher than Sportsman's Warehouse (and likely higher than Cabelas), but every time I go in there they have what I'm looking for.  Stores in N. Portland near Delta Park and in Oregon City.  And their staff are generally very, very knowledgeable.  They also host some neat fishing seminars... like the two "Fishing Tillamook Bay Fall Chinook" workshops coming up in late September, taught by two pretty well known guides.

Cabela's is slanted toward midwest bass, pike and walleye fishing, IMHO----and the prices are higher than Sportco or Outdoor Emporium.  OE is geared to NW salmon and halibut, and lately to tuna.
