Some of the NCKA boyz made a trip down to Mex and had pretty much the most insane trip ever. One member who's a freediver filmed and got some incredible footage. He edited a few shorts and they're so good I thought I had to share it w/ the NWKA boyz. Check it out!

Here's the link to the whole thread w/ story and pics.

I actually attempted this same video shot about three years ago down in Baja.  Jack crevelle "Toro" caught from a kayak and filmed underwater.  I must say my execution of the shot left a bit to be desired relative to the recent NCKA vid.
Skip ahead to about 4:58 (about half way) in the video to see the Toro action.

I think I have some more of the underwater shot on a disk somewhere.

Actually, my video was a team effort.  I took the underwater footage of my friend Adam's fish (the jack crevalle), he took most of the other footage, and my friend Levi did the editing.  Somewhere I have more of my underwater footage and it comes no where close to the video Z links to.  In fact, you can see my hand as I struggle to hold the camera and swim down to the fish.

I am so interested, yet so unavailable this summer.  Gas prices are a bit higher now, but when I did this trip with two friends in 2005 we all packed into one truck (Toyota Tundra) and our total cost (licenses, insurance, gas, food, booze, etc..) was $1500 for 3 weeks and that's driving down from NorCal.  That's only $500 per person.  We slept on public beaches and ate fish every day which really kept costs down. Oh, and I lost 15 lbs with all the kayaking and low fat diet.  I highly recommend giving it a try at some point in your life.

Very nice trip Bsteves!
I was wondering how many of those fish were inedible?
So many species caught there!

Boxofrain,

We caught something like 40 different species on that trip and ate about 20 of them.  I believe very few of the species we caught were poisonous to eat (only the puffers) but several of them were found to be less than tasty (the Toro and ladyfish for example).

As for being single and in my twenties.. well being married in my 30's and trying to keep up with my friends who were single and in their twenties wasn't easy.
