On Sunday, July 27 HOW, Portland will be attempting its largest event yet. We will be taking up to 15 Veterans to Lacamas Lake in Washington on a trout and bass focus. This is our biggest event and we are rising to the challenge. Transportation has been arranged and all of the Vets will arrive at 8:30. The group permit allows all of the veterans and volunteers to fish, whether you have a Washington State License or not.

If you have been thinking about donating some time to one of our events, then this would be the one. Come out and join us for the day. I promise to buy you lunch and give you an experience that may touch you down to your core.

Have a great day and may your lines be taut.

Looking forward to this event! This is practically my backyard. You know I will be out there to help as needed. I will also tote along a 12x12 eazy up that we can use as needed

There's a very nice new kayak launch platform on the widened ramp area. It includes an assist bar for stability. However, I personally think you're better off launching on the other side into Round Lake to avoid all the wakeboarders and jet skis on the main lake. It's also possible to kayak under the bridge between the two.

There are nice picnic areas on both sides but the Round Lake side has better shade trees and more space to set up.

I'll still be in CA so won't be able to join you.

Steve - sorry, but I won't be able to help out next weekend.  Will be at the coast with my family.

All - summer time on a lake, fishing, helping out - not much better than that!  Do what you can to assist with Anthony/Steve and the HOW crew to make this a great day for some vets!

Thanks,
Sam

I don't have any data to back this statement up, but I think the percentage of Veterans that seamlessly make the transition to civilian life is probably pretty small. Some hurdles in life are higher than others, and this group is taking the initiative to regain control of their lives through this residential treatment program. We can really use some support on this outing, as the residents rotate through this program on a 45-90 day basis, it's going to be a bit like Mr. Gump's box of chocolates. Come on out and help us support these Warriors.

I've been waiting for a Sunday event, since I work Saturday's.  Unfortunately I'll be in Spokane that weekend for a family reunion.

Once again NWKA has overwhelmed The Portland Chapter OF HOW with its members generosity and compassion. Thanks to all of the members who have volunteered their time on Sunday. We have enough volunteers to make the event an outstanding success.

Thanks to Kcin00, Fugitive, Deluxeharley, SamM, Willbd, Mojo Jojo and Jim for volunteering your time. We will see you at 7:30 Sunday Morning. :D
