As most of you know, our good friend Ron was taken from us this year by an aggressive form of cancer. Ron spent a lot of time in Netarts Bay since he and his wife shared a house there. So on Saturday, August 9th we will take his ashes out to be spread in the bay so he will forever be a part of that beautiful area. The plan is to meet up around 2 pm at the boat launch of Netarts Bay and go from there. Afterwards the plan is to head to a local pub for some beer and tots. From what I understand this won't be a formal event so we will just play it by ear. Mostly, we will do whatever we need to make this a fitting memorial for his wife, family, and close friends that will be there, as well as for ourselves. Let me know if you plan on attending so I can have a rough idea of the size of our group.

I'm in.

If some of Ron's non-kayak buddies or family would like to borrow a kayak I can probably dig up 3-4 spares.

I have a commitment that day but my Ocean Kayak XL tandem boat is available if needed.  Really wish I could be there. Last time I was there Ron showed me how to dig bay clams.

I'm pretty sure I'm in for this.  I also have a tandem Malibu Two XL with paddles and life jackets I can probably bring along to lend out.

I will not be back in Oregon in time for this. Please pass my condolences to Ron's wife Erin.
I was just able to meet up with Erin last week and passed along the lighthouse memorial statue that Mark Collett made. She was very moved by it!

I am working a double at the fire house so I will have to be there in spirit. Praying for a safe trip out and memorial.

I was just able to meet up with Erin last week and passed along the lighthouse memorial statue that Mark Collett made. She was very moved by it!

I have contacted Erin a few times asking whether she had received the lighthouse yet. Thank-you Micheal for getting it delivered. I do hope it will bring the family some comfort for years to come from all of us.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent
