Hey Guys,

I've been kayak fishing for a little over 20 years.  I started in Southern California and moved to the Florida gulf coast 7 years ago.
I can't wait to check out and learn a new fishery.

I'm sure I'll be asking a bunch of dumb questions that you guys have already answered a million times. I apologize in advance.

Great site.

Well, if your stated location of Pacific City is indicative of where you're moving, you're pretty close to some great water. I'm sure many here will be asking you questions in no time at all; so by all means ask away, but searching may be your fastest resource.

Welcome!
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

I didn't even realize the PC up in the corner, whoops.  We're looking at Eugene, but we're open to moving anywhere.  Suggestions appreciated.  We're dropping our son off at OU next month, so I'll have a little time to look around.  Please let me know your opinions on where to live, we love to fish but my wife likes a few amenities as well.  Thanks in advance.

If you want to live within an hour or so from your son, Florence down to Coos Bay along the coast can get you onto lots of fisheries, including salt.  Sunset Bay which is just barely south of Coos Bay is an awesome launch point that gets you out in the salt and onto some bottom fishing, crabbing etc..

Thanks INSAYN, I'm all about fishing the ocean. The freshwater is OK, but not a passion.  Are the Halibut within range for yakkers?  Also, does anyone do the Salmon shark thing in Oregon?  I used to fish Threshers off Malibu and loved it.  I tried the shark fishing in Florida but Bull sharks are too much on a kayak, at least for me.

Eugene is actually a great compromise.  Good fishing in all directions.
