I'm heading to Coos Bay to go fishing in my dads new power boat.   Neither of us have ever fished the area before and dad refuses to go in the ocean.   Any sugestions?  Bottom fish around the tressels?  Or are the salmon in the bay?

Salmon are starting to show up in the bay. Most fish are being caught near the jetties. If you have room for one more guy and gear, I'd be happy to put you on some fish :)

How about almost in the ocean? Could fish the bar(in between the jetties) for Salmon. It is possible that some Salmon are coming up farther, i have been so busy haven't even checked the local intel at all. Could try trolling in the bay up to the railroad bridge and if you don't get any action could switch to bottom fish around the trestles. Just follow the lead of the other boats out there. When are you gonna be here? i can check some intel and let you know tomorrow.

I do know they have been catching salmon on the Umpqua below the 101 bridge

Been catching bottom fish on the inside of the north jetty and back to the sunken jetty, salmon starting to show up, jetty tips to the north spit boat launch on the incoming tide . Winchester Bay salmon are starting to show up from the tip of the jetty to 101 bridge.

Next time LingLing.  I'm bringing the wife and kids this time and the boat will already be crowded.  I'm bringing my salmon gear but Dads convinced its too early.   I'm going to try to pursuade him, can't catch fish if your not fishing.

Well, no crabs and no fish.  We got out late and shortly after deploying the crab rings the wind picked up and big swells started rolling in.  I was feeling fortunate that I wasn't in my kayak.  We got out of there as fast as we could.  It went from calm water to 5 foot swells in about twenty minutes.   It was crazy how fast the conditions changed.
