Finally, I have my own hobie outback kayak!  My thanks goes out to a local kayak member, who patiently and generously sold me this kayak before putting it on the market.  It came with lots of extras...anchor trolley, fish finder, down rigger, tackle tray insert and turbo fins.  Couple of things I need to do before I bless it with fish goo...and then I'll be hitting WG/Homer/Seward/Whittier  where the fish may be. ;D

You're all set now...  Congratulations!  Just in time to find a tagged silver in Seward.

Nice! looks like a good boat! Hope to get out fishing with some of the folks from the forum again before we all start hibernating...

Have you put it in the water yet? I'm trying to track a stubborn but evasive leak in my new pro angler.

Nope, not yet.  Just came back from vacay and I've been itching to test my new boat.  Been busy waterproofing and putting more bungee pad eyes, waterproof fish finder connector/container, plus extra fish rod holder.

I came across this ascend kayak cart from basspro... modified the snap holes to fit my hobie.  Not bad for $50 investment.

Now I just need to finish the kayak anchor system with 150' line and I'm good to go.

I'll be butt fishing at WG (don't need anymore salmon)...however, I heard silver fishing is picking up at seward...so I might head down there pending how fast I can limit out at WG.

Wherever there is a large concentration of salmon, I always try and lower some bait in a tad deeper waters.  halibut and large ones at that are pretty notorious for following those salmon up to shallower waters.

I'm more focused now on Kings out of Homer, but Seward right now for silvers might be fun.  Though you can catch them on traditional saltwater methods.  As the season progresses, magwarts, vibraxes, and more "in river" type of gear can be productive right up against the shoreline where powerboaters dare not go....

If I went to Seward, I'd try to have fun with a few silvers.  After catching one, I'd lop off the head and send it back down in slightly deeper waters (30 to 100 ft).

Alrighty then...the kayak fish whisperer has spoken and I'm heading to seward instead of WG.  If I get skunked, I know who to blame.  ;D

Hmmm. I was originally headed to Homer this weekend but Rudy's logic makes sense. I did get a few bottom bites after catching silvers only last 2 Seward trips. I have to learn to set the hook better and I have to get another anchor because the wind kills a good drift. Who's going where and when?

My tentative plan is to head to seward.  The weather forecast seems more favorable in seward than homer...but heck, this is unpredictable ak.  I haven't been to canines head so this will be sightseeing/fishing expedition.  I got a brand new drift anchor and 150' anchor ready to go.  Everything about this trip will be new experience so hopefully it'll be entertaining to say the least.
