I was at PC yesterday guiding a friend that had never fished before from a kayak in the salt. He and I launched early trying to beat the forecasted wind. When we launched around 7:30 things looked good as the ocean was flat and wind was very light. With in around 30 minutes or so at 8AM the wind started to blow a bit and was slowly building up earlier and faster then had been forecasted. After we dropped our crab traps SE of the rock, we turned and started heading into the wind and towards the buoy. After we passed the buoy right at around 100 feet both of our rods suddenly buried and we had fish on! He and I were both fighting fish side by side and within around 40 feet of each other. I landed mine which was a nice hatchery 8 pounder and he landed his that was wild and closer to 10 pounds. He released his and I bonked mine and things were about to got even better. We re-deployed and turned back into the wind and within 8 minutes or so, I was into another hard fighting fish. This fish was spunky and was flying through the air left and right. It ended up being wild and quickly released. Our fishing continued to be "hot" for the next 2 hours and we were finished with 2 limits. All in all I landed 3 wild and 2 hatchers and my buddy caught 2 wild and 2 hatchery. Here's some pictures from yesterday below. If you would like more info, will be adding a more detailed report to my website in the next few days. www.KayakFishingOregon.com
Cheers!

Way to get him on 'em Jammer!  By the way, if you are out of freezer space, I have room.

Well done! How was the crabbing?

Crabbing sucked! 3 legal males and a lots of females. Crabbing was a different story here 3 weeks ago. The awesome salmon fishing made up for it. Three crabs were full and meaty though.

Thanks for the reminder Jammer.  Shorter drive, but it won't be an easy launch, considering the swell forecast all this week.

Thanks for the reminder Jammer.

Yes, thank you for the reminder. Also, way to go on the coho, those look like some tasty fish and it looks like you had a great time. Bummer the crabs weren't as suicidal as hoped.

Where are some decent launches north of Cape Falcon?
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

Crap Jammer - you caught all our fish! JK - way to go guys!

I took my BIL out for his 1st yak fishng trip on Sunday and ran into Yaksurf and another yakker (sorry, didn't get your name) all trolling for coho. I got a couple of hits and no hookups, but my BIL landed one keeper. Yaksurf and other guy got nada.

There was some excitement from the bottom fishing crew though - but I'll let the star tell his story himself...
