Very nice butt Rod. That must have been a lot of fun and a challenge. And the water behind you looked pretty sweet too.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Nice fish!  Halibut weight to length chart says 59" is 103#...thinking this is the 1st WG 100lb plus butt on kayak that I know about.

Any gopro video?

Halibut tempura last night, thanks wife. Checked off the  square for 100 pounder from the kayak from the bucket list. Now for a 40 plus King salmon. I am a senior citizen so I have to do it pretty quick.

About a half an hour to get it up close enough to see that I had a handful. about another half an hour to get the float ready and untangle it from the drive, the fish and wind had swung me around and snagged the drive. I pulled the float line up through the hatch and unwrapped it.  I finally got it close enough to put a harpoon in just below gill plate, it slid up the plate and it stuck in it's throat. we went for a ride, I think the kayak got up on the step! I didn't know that until I got it to shore that there was no real no damage. About 45 min. to figure out it was not going to tire out before I was so I towed it and the float  for a mile to beach it and tried to kill it so I could put it in the boat. 3 miles to go to my truck and it woke up for awhile until I went into panic mode and stabbed it about 20 times. Those fish are hard to kill and can sure rock a kayak when they are flipping around. I learned some lessons lesson; Use floating line and use a shorter length of it. I had put too much line on the float so the fish did not have to fight it as much as it should have. I know that that fish was most likely a once in a life time catch given the area but what a memory.

Bleed and BRAIN SPIKE!

The sooner you can cut the gills the better. They will bleed out faster. As soon as it is docile brain spike!

Way to go! That is an awesome fish.

Fungunnin - what do you use as a brain spike? And what are you aiming for?
