It is going to be an exciting weekend for sure. Just a heads up made it out last Saturday in the dory and the beach is a mess. The hump that usually developes this time of year is sporting a lot of dry sand and a lot of rigs getting stuck. Had to take a hard right at the bottom of the ramp and go all the way to the cape to launch. With the non-select opener and a great forecast there could be close to a hundred Dory's out. So a little pack from the parking lot might save you some huge headaches. good luck be safe there are some huge lings moving into the reef, 42" 32" last Saturday.  LB you better come by the house

Thinking about changing plans and going to PC Saturday AM. Conditions look reasonable for a newbie. All I know about PC is the Pelican Brewery. My guess is to launch right in front of it and fish for bottom fish SW of the rock. Sound like a reasonable plan? First time for bottom fish as well. Any simple advice on rigs?

looks like there will be a lot of us down there and there will be a wealth of knowledge available....I use a lead head bullet jig with a curly tail for bottom fish....I also use a secret weapon that Ling Banger has affectionately named the Puffin but as far as I know only him and myself have one....haven't used it yet but will tomorrow and will let everyone know how it works......lol     I will check in after work tonight before I head out .....

Launch and land further north towards the cape.  It is more sheltered.  Also, fish N to NW of the Rock.  South is mostly sand.

Hey Mojo, That kayak looks familiar. I think that might of been you I passed on my way to the beach Saturday. My apologies if I waked you and your buddy, I was trying to go as slow as possible and maintain enough speed to get out of the surf and not take one over stern.

Thought I would have had some company today in PC.  Ocean was beautiful and the coho bite was hot.  Fished from 6:30 to about noon.

Saturday at PC was fun.  I caught 4 nice black rocks and one short Cabazon that went back.  We only fished for about two hours before the swells, rain and wind got ugly.  It was time to go in when we saw all of the dory guys heading in.

Here's a video from the day, using the GoPro Studio for the first time.

It was nice to see a large group from NWKA out.

I am now an official lover of Lancer Jigs.  I was fishing a 3 bait rig, and all of the fish nailed an anchovy colored lancer jig.

Nice to get back on the water again and see some old friends....such as Ling Banger (thanks for helping me beach the yak, and yes I did have too much crap on my yak), Ndogg was spectacular in his almost huli last second save, and nice to meet some new guys as well such as Cosmo and Mojo Jojo.  Mojo let's see some of those huli video's you took while we were helping others get beached...send me a PM and I will give you my e-mail and I will post if you can't figure it out.  My crab pot was a couple of hundred yards away from where I dropped it and only had one female in it.  Didn't get a salmon but caught a nice blackie while trolling a spoon though, also caught another blackie while jigging by the rock.  A short day,  but all in all an awesome day as all on the water tend to be.  I will be out there more often as my career has changed and my schedule is now more open.

Cosmo, nice video!  Sorry I didn't stick around to chat after I loaded my kayak down at the beach.  I was trying to pull back up where Shannon and you were parked and my truck got stuck in the sand.  One of the dory guys took pity on me and pulled me out.  Anyway, nice to meet you, we will have to do it again.

Cosmo, thanks for putting together and sharing the video. Looks like a fun day out there. It would have been fun to see ya'll out there but it wasn't in the cards this time.

Question: The retractable leash you can see starting at about 3:30 in the video - is that a dog-leash type solution? If so, I've been curious how those hold up in the saltwater. Have you had any issues?

I have been using a small one for my paddle for about two months no issues yet but for under $10 if it had to be replaced every year it wouldn't be a big issue. I do always rinse everything ir soak it in fresh water and dry before putting it away.
