I met up with Paul Demers, Roy-Dude and Dana on Sunday at the California St boat ramp around 0800 in hopes of tagging some fish. It was a gorgeous day, there weren't as many boats as expected, this probably had to do with the salmon derby on the Umpqua. We trolled all the way down to the chip pile before I finally got a take down. It ended up being a decent little jack. I rebaited and continued back up river, I didn't make it far before I had fish number two in the net. I found out that Dana also caught two fish. I'll keep it short and sweet this time.

I had planned to hit the Siuslaw on Monday but changed my mind because I didn't feel like spending the money on gas. I ended up with one crazy jack and two other takes downs that stripped my bait.

Last year I trolled 10-12 hours each day of that weekend and didn't even get a scratch. It was nice to not repeat the skunk this year.

Here are a couple videos from the weekend.

Pretty frustarting day for us. I had a bait stripper hit and lost a decent jack at the boat. Dude hooked into shamu while she was lowering her bait, thing jumped once and bit through the line at the hooks, must have just swallowed the herring. It sounded like someone tossed a boulder off the bridge when it landed! a guide boat the was following said it was real big! sure would have liked her to get to land that one, Got the adrenaline going though!
See ya on the water..
