Yesterday I looked at MSW and it looked pretty good.so after work I loaded up and got to seaside around 1130 last night. was going to hit cannon beach but decided against it. found a good launch point in the dark ;D.found it at the south end of the beach where this sand meets the boulders. went to find a place to park and sleep.

Woke up at 5 ate breakfast and drove to the launch.just as I was carting off the pavement Crabby Cabby pulls up on a detour to PC.after a short bs ssession about how he has looked but never tried there he unloads his yak.

The surf launch was a little rough from a wide surf zone but not bad.on the way out I dropped off the crab trap then I rigged for salmon(no love today).then we headed out and about.at one point we think Spencer hooked a halibut. paying no attention I hear him yellow, rod doubled over with some creature of the deep then snap gone.what could have been we will never know.after that we split up a bit to explore. Spencer discovered the baby cabby and baby Irish lord daycare, while I found the grownups  >:D by the cliffs.I lost a few unknowns,1 ling and a big black due to not using lip grips(always use lip grips).released a 18 " underling.took home 7 blacks and a ling.Spencer took home 7 blacks.

On the way in we picked up the trap.soon as I was over the trap I knew it had crab.25 to be exact. Only 7 males but all jumbos.the landing looked a little western so we chose to pull out on the rocks.way easier. All in all great day in new territory.

Nice report!  Sorry I didn't get back to you on your questions but it looks like you found some fish just fine.

I used to surf there all the time, and when the swell is up it's rough near the rocks.  Looks like you had it good. Great report!

Nice haul! Cool to fish someplace different than where most people go. Looks like some great conditions this week... are you planning to make it back over to the coast next weekend?

maybe so...but it was my personal best smallest fish out of the yak from the ocean!!  and not just one, but 3 fish contending for the spot.  all in all, fun day on the water.  the rocks to the south do look like they could get a bit painful with some NW swell.
